Mt. Blackmore
Looked like a wet slide coming down from the east face of Blackmore, not sure but I have a picture, was taken at about 7am this morning so it wasn’t today that it slid.
Hyalite Cyn.
Hey guys,
No pics for you. Probably nothing new to you either but I was able to observe deep slab avalanches in almost every n facing cirque above treeline as far as the eye could see from Mt Blackmore summit today. Mt. Bole and Alex Lowe to name a few. All right below Ridgeline and I suspect ran about the same time as the big one on Blackmore and Flanders and the hanging bowl on Elephant head. Clearly this was a very big cycle in the N Gallatin's, sparing very few slopes. Quite impressive to see really. Most debris had a skiff of new over it and the winds were cranking out of the SW. Not gusty, just sustained, face burning wind.
Cheers,
Andrew
Two large deep slabs near Maid of the Mist
From obs 3/6/21: "Two large natural avalanches in Maid of the Mist Basin. One of them ran on the east face of Arden Peak (Peak 10,201) which propagated across the entire face. Could have been triggered by a cornice fall then stepped down to deeper layers. The second was on the NE face of the peak Fat Maid and Skinny Maid come from. Also propagated across the entire slope. Crown height between 6'-8' in most places." Timing of these slides is unknown. Probably in the last week, but maybe older.
