The southern mountains picked up 3-5” of snow yesterday morning. Between 4 and 6 a.m. today, 2-3” fell at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky. The gale force winds (89 mph at Lulu Pass) have subsided and are now blowing 20 mph out of the west to southwest with gusts of 30-40 mph. Skies are cloudy and mountain temperatures are in the low teens. Today, winds will shift northerly as scattered snow showers drop 3-5” of new snow by morning.
In the last 24 hours the northern mountains received a trace to 1” of snow while the south got 10-18”. Winds have been blowing strong from the southwest with gusts of 50-78 mph yesterday afternoon and gusts of 40-60 mph this morning. Mountain temperatures are in the mid-20s under mostly cloudy skies. The storm will end this morning and skies will begin to clear this afternoon. Winds will remain strong out of the southwest and the southern mountains will pick up another 2-4” this morning.
Snow showers yesterday dropped 4-6” in the Bridger Range, 1-2” south of Bozeman and near Big Sky, and 3-5” in the southern ranges. Temperatures this morning are teens to low 20s F with southwest to west wind at 20-30 mph and gusts of 30-40 mph. Temperatures today will be in the 20s to low 30s F with southwest wind at 30-40 mph. Seasonal winter weather settles in with light snow showers today and increased snowfall intensity tonight. By tomorrow morning the mountains will have 7-10” of new snow in the southern ranges, 5-7” near Big Sky, and 2-4” near Bozeman.
Since yesterday morning the mountains got 5-7” of heavy snow near West Yellowstone and the southern Madison Range, 2-3” near Cooke City, a trace to 1” near Big Sky, and none near Bozeman. Temperatures this morning are 20s to low 30s F with wind out of the south to southwest at 10-20 mph and gusts of 30-40 mph. Today, temperatures will reach the low 30s F with south to southwest wind at 20-30 mph. By tomorrow morning, snow showers will deliver 4-6” near West Yellowstone, Big Sky and Cooke City, and 1-2” near Bozeman.
Overnight a trace to 1” of snow fell in the mountains around West Yellowstone. The rest of the advisory area remained dry. At 5 a.m. temperatures are in the 20s F and winds are blowing 20-40 mph out of the S-SW. Today, skies will remain mostly cloudy and highs will warm into the upper 20s to low 30s with the exception of the Bridger Range where highs will climb into the low 40s. Winds will remain moderate to strong out of the S-SW. There is a chance for snow showers in the mountains around Cooke City and West Yellowstone. These areas should see 2-3” by tomorrow morning.
Overnight, a quick storm dropped 5” of snow in the southern Madison Range. The mountains around Big Sky, West Yellowstone and Cooke City picked up a trace to 1” while the mountains around Bozeman remained dry. This morning, temperatures range from the mid-teens to low 20s F and winds are blowing 15-35 out of the W-SW with ridgetop gusts pushing 40 mph. Today, temps will warm into the high 20s to low 30s F and winds will gradually decrease throughout the day. Another round of moisture impacts the southern ranges tonight. The mountains around Cooke City and West Yellowstone should see 2-3” by tomorrow morning.
At 5 a.m. mountain temperatures range from the upper 20s to mid-30s F and winds are blowing 20-35 mph out of the W-SW. Today, a strong SW flow will keep conditions warm and windy. Highs will climb into the mid-30s to low 40s F and winds will continue to blow 25-35 mph out of the W-SW. There is a slight chance for valley rain and mountain snow in the mountains south of Bozeman. This storm is weak and unorganized and won’t amount to much. There is a better chance of rain and snow tonight in the mountains around West Yellowstone and Cooke City. These areas could receive 1-2” of snow by tomorrow morning.
Yesterday, under sunny skies mountain temperatures reached the upper 40s. Today will be sunny and warm with similar temperatures and increasing wind from the southwest. At the ridgelines it’s currently blowing 10-15 mph with gusts of 25 mph. Tonight will become partly cloudy and tomorrow there is a slight chance of a rain or snow shower.
At 5 a.m. skies are clear with temperatures in the 20s. Today will be sunny with temperatures reaching the 40s. Winds are blowing W-NW at 15-20 mph and will decrease this afternoon. Sunny skies and above normal temperatures are forecasted the next couple days, so enjoy it.
No snow fell in the mountains over the last 24 hours. Temperatures this morning are high teens to 20s F and wind is northwest to west at 10-20 mph with gusts in the 30s. Today will be sunny with temperatures in the 20s to low 30s F and wind from the northwest to north at 10-15 mph. The next couple days are clear with a slight warming trend and a wet weekend ahead.
