Overnight the mountains around Cooke City picked up 1-2” of new snow. This morning temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s F and winds are blowing 5-15 mph out of the W-NW. Today, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 30s F. Winds will continue to blow 5-15 mph and shift to the W-SW. A ridge of high pressure builds over the area tonight, which will produce sunny and warm conditions tomorrow.
At 3 a.m. rainfall started in the valleys and snow began falling in the mountains. At 6 a.m. the northern ranges have up to 1” of wet snow and the southern mountains have 2”. Winds increased from the southwest and are averaging 15-20 mph with gusts of 45 mph. Snow showers will end by 8 a.m. and sunshine will increase throughout the day as mountain temperatures warm into the 40s. Skies will be partly cloudy tonight and freezing levels will drop to near 6,000 feet.
At 5 a.m. under partly cloudy skies temperatures are in the high 20s F. Since yesterday morning Cooke City has received 5”of new snow, the Bridger Range has 3” and all other areas have 1-2”. Winds are SW at 15-25 mph with the Bridger ridge getting SE winds at 10-15 mph. Today will become mostly cloudy and temperatures will warm into the 40s as the freezing line climbs to 8,500 feet. By morning, scattered snow showers will drop a trace to 1” in the northern mountains and 1-2” in the southern ranges.
At 4:29 a.m. spring has begun and the mountains have 2-3” of new snow near Bozeman, Big Sky and West Yellowstone, and 4-7” near Cooke City. Yesterday, precipitation fell as rain below 8000’-8500’ and freezing levels dropped below 7000’ last night. Wind has calmed from overnight gusts of 40-60 mph. This morning, temperatures are high 20s to low 30s F with west to southwest wind at 10-20 mph. Today, temperatures will reach mid-30s F with southwest wind at 5-15 mph. Snow showers through tonight will produce 2-4” of snow by tomorrow morning. In the southern mountains, the snow level could rise to 8000’ this afternoon with rain below.
At 5 a.m. the mountains near West Yellowstone and Cooke City have 1” of new snow with no new snow elsewhere. Temperatures are low to mid-30s F with southwest wind at 15-20 mph. Temperatures yesterday reached highs in the mid-40s to 50s F. Under mostly cloudy skies today, temperatures will be in the 30s F with southwest wind at 20-30 mph. This morning rain is possible below 8500’. Snow levels will drop to 7000’ this afternoon with 1-2” possible in the mountains near Bozeman and 3-5” in the southern ranges and Big Sky by tomorrow morning.
No new snow fell over the past 24 hours. This morning, temperatures are in the mid to upper 30S F under mostly clear skies. Winds are blowing 10-25 mph out of the W-SW with ridgetop gusts breaking 30 mph. Today, the existing ridge of high pressure will remain over the area allowing temperatures to reach near record highs. Winds will remain light to moderate out of the W-SW and skies will remain mostly clear. The ridge begins to break down later today increasing the chance of clouds and stronger winds. Precipitation develops over the mountains tonight. The southern ranges could see 1-3” of snow above 7,000 ft. by tomorrow morning.
Over the past 24 hours the mountains around Cooke City picked up 6-8” of new snow. The Bridger Range picked up 3-4” while the rest of the advisory area received 1-2”. This morning temperatures range from the teens to mid-20s F and winds are blowing 10-25 mph out of the W-SW. Today, a weak ridge of high pressure will build over the area producing partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will warm into the upper 30s to low 40s F and winds will remain light to moderate out of the W-SW. No snow is expected tonight or tomorrow.
At 5 a.m. mountain temperatures range from the upper 20s to low 40s F and winds are blowing 20-40 mph out of the W-SW with stronger gusts pushing 50 mph. Today, a quick moving front will impact the area bringing an increased chance of rain and wet snow. Rain will likely fall up to 8,000 ft. with wet snow falling above that elevation. Temperatures today will warm into the 30s to low 40s and winds will remain moderate to strong out of the W-SW. Precipitation moves out of the area this evening and tomorrow looks to be dry with cooler temps.
At 5 a.m. under mostly cloudy skies, mountain temperatures are in the mid to upper 30s and winds are blowing out of the W-SW at 15-25 mph with gusts of 35 mph. In the last 24 hours the mountains around West Yellowstone and Cooke City received 1-2” of snow. Today will be partly cloudy, winds will remain the same and temperatures will rise into the 40s and likely not freeze again tonight. Upper elevations will see a trace to an inch of new snow by morning and tomorrow looks to be a combination of rain and snow.
Cooke City received an inch of snow overnight. At 6 a.m. it is drizzling in the valleys since the freezing line is at 9,000 feet. Winds are west to southwest at 15-20 mph with gusts in the thirties. Today will be cloudy with scattered rain this morning, and snow at the higher elevations. Accumulations will only amount to an inch of snow or .1” of precipitation. Mountain temperatures will rise to near 40F today and likely not freeze tonight under mostly cloudy skies.
