Skiers triggered this avalanche remotely, from a distance on 1/2/2021. It is on 9100’ elev. SE aspect in Yellowstone N.P. outside of Cooke City.

From obs; "After the four of us skied, transitioned, and started skinning back up, the fourth member of our party (who was the last person skinning) heard a loud "whumpf" and saw a shooting crack propagate from our skin track to the right and left of us, approximately 60-80' wide. The slope was around 25 degrees."

Snowmobile triggered avalanche just off the trail into McAtee Basin from Buck Ridge. Appears to have been remotely triggered from below on Sunday, Dec 27th. Broke on weak snow at the ground.

We triggered numerous collapses or "whumphs" in the Taylor Fork. Some had associated shooting cracks that propagated up to 20 feet from the point of initiation. Photo: GNFAC

From obs: "I did not observe any recent natural activity from the top of Flanders, save for one small slide that started right at a ridgeline. I did not experience any collapsing or cracking, although thinner snow near trees or rocks was weak and unsupportable."

From obs: "Skier triggered a 1.5' slide to his right while making a turn near a cliff band. The slide did not intersect with the skier's path. We did a ECT before choosing our line and were not able to get the soft slab, or anything else to propagate, but clearly, the slab is ready to go as it slid on rocks. We both skied out without incident."
